Book Review: At Any Cost by Aubrey Brenna

I give it 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5 Stars)
I like this book. I like it a lot actually. For an adult book w adult content it was subtle yet sexy n it was quite demanding of my attention to keep reading. When I first read a few chapters in I thought I just bought another FSoG book again n I didn't finish that one. But this was different.
Adam Drake was everything any woman would want in her life. He had a rough past but he's also made quite the future any gamer/computer geek would dream of. An Empire! Rich beyond his age and with a yacht , mansionish-like home, fat bank accounts n a brain that's just as sexy. I'm speechless just to even imagine a real guy like this. He befriends  n meets Emilia "Mia" Strong. As a med student she's struggling herself making ends meet, eating half her lunch/dinner only to save the other half for another meal. On top of that she's got a mother who went thru a cancer treatment who's also got a rough past of her own. Who's past experience help build this protective wall on Mia's heart. Mia's strong, independent and an avid gamer and blogger. Her witty comments and strong character makes her stand taller than her courage at love. She doesn't know love or understands a relationship because she's never been in one that's worth mentioning. But Adam isn't an Alpha in command of her attention. He's gentle on her heart, her impenetrable wall of protectiveness, her feelings n her space. But he's also hungry for her love he never found in any other woman. Protective of himself as well he buries his life in work. Mia's bff Heath is like a bodyguard whose has her best interest at heart, looking out for her and protecting her like a big brother. He's safe, caring n is like her other conscience, one she finds comforting n overly protective n annoying. Adam admired Mia way before he has ever met her. He knows everything about her, her situation as a struggling med student, n mother's current situation. At their first encounter he came across as a rich jerk but thru the book his intentions were all good, looking out for her. Bc of her past, Mia tries really hard to not paint that beautiful future they can have together. Unintentionally she pushes him away seeming offended n vulnerable, confused and overly self assured he'll hurt her. Every action and all of Adam's intentions are so gentleman like its so unreal. Only in fiction does a man like him exist. I do like how it's a gamer couple. How Mia gawks n drools over techy gadgets like sleeker newer laptops.  She's so cute. Not much is said about her appearance but Adam is described as a geek god, o dear. So looking forward to book 2.
