Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Book review: Shatter Me
Page 40, 11% - I like this story so far. It's earth after some kind of tragedy that effects the whole planet. POV is Juliette in a prison who ends up sharing her cell with Adam whos about her age. She shows him how the system works while he in turn provide her with he comfort of a friend, a companion who she hasn't had in 200ish days. The writing style is descriptive and very artistic in a way it paints the picture clearly whether it be the weather, the four walled cell, her emotions and her thoughts. It's painted so vividly clear and imaginative. Little objects have bigger impacts, bigger meanings. Simplicity is rare.
"I wish I could stuff my mouth full of rain- drops and fill my pockets full of snow. I wish I could trace the veins in a fallen leaf and feel the wind pinch my nose."
13% - A girls who's hiding herself, blocking her emotions, her feelings, yet desperately reaching out for someone, Adam, to touch her to make her feel whole, feel human, feel normal, feel wanted. Probably to be loved, feelings she never got once her parents knew about her.
17% - A spy, betrayal, choosing sides. A boot in her spine. It's all too much all at once but all I can think of is what does Adam really think n feel? Does he remember Juliette from school? Because she does. Does he feel anything from her? Because her body aches his touch.
21% - All I ever wanted was to reach out and touch another human being not just with my hands but with my heart."
She's so emotionally wrecked! AllI had to do was open a book—to see the sto- ries bleeding from page to page. To see the memories etched onto paper. " .. "I spent my life folded between the pages of books. In the absence of human relationships I formed bonds with paper characters. I lived love and loss through stories threaded in his- tory; I experienced adolescence by associ- ation. My world is one interwoven web of words, stringing limb to limb, bone to sinew, thoughts and images all together. I am a be- ing comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction. They want to delete every point of punctu- ation in my life from this earth and I don’t think I can let that happen."
I wanted so badly to reach in n calm her soul and tell her everything will eventually be ok, it's ok, shhhhh.

If I were to just read to title and expect an awesome read. That's impossible! But that's exactly what I got! An awesome read! The cover image is pretty n interesting. I'm awed by the writing. It's easy to read with a good flow. The story line is smooth with unexpected turns from one alley to the other. If I read the first few chapters and the last few and try to fill in the middle? I'm screwed because they don't seem to exist in the same story let alone the attitude and flow of both ends. My feelings for this book? My thoughts? Just two words, shatter ME! Book two please! In honesty I had mixed feelings for this read. I've read a few comments /reviews about this book and had mixed thoughts of what I wanted to do. Buy or not? Trust reviews? But decide a review should not determine my choice of dropping the book but read it with an open mind. And I did! And I'm dumbfounded by why some of the haters even attempt to read fiction if their mindset wasn't ready. The way of the writing isn't difficult at all to read but actually tells you and takes you straight into the mind of the characters, of their type of style. It's lends you a type of shadow where you can understand the characters better through their thought process. The writer may create a character but the characters themselves are a separate entity of the writer and this author does an awesome job with character development and giving each character their own set of personality that bleeds through the pages. I'm still so stuck on the image of Warner and Juliette but I'm rooting for Adam no matter what.

Book Review: Unravel Me

An emotional rollercoaster that takes emotions to a whole 'nother level.

Chapter 14 (pg 91) - Juliette is like a walking wrecking ball. Unsure of her abilities and very much in love recklessly but unconsciously.
At Omega Point, Castle and Kenji are helping her adjust but having so many bottled up emotions and feelings and self pity she fuses her inter demon and unleashed u fathomed amounts of destruction. The monster in her is like Naruto's nine-tailed-fox, hard to control. When she's emotionally pushes she is in another state of mind that can care less, that can kill. She can't shatter the world!
During her training to learn to better herself, contain herself, to control her inner demon/monster, Adam is also learning about himself. Castle runs tests and soon learns that Adam can disable a persons ability.
The bad new is his body, when with Juliette, slowly drops its defenses and has to struggle to keep himself from being harmed by her.
Bottom line, he's not immune to her but his ability works to subdue her ability from killing him, unconsciously.

Done- It's like the author took my diary and expanded the passages, my secrets and feelings and all my emotions spread out before her, elaborated it in fuller details and dabbled in a story to give the emotions a plot, a person, a setting, and two damaged boys to die for. One can not imagine what Adam has to endear to be so contained after all he's been through. It must of been his souls owe training. Finally, finally Juliette speaks, she moves and she unravels the Earth with just the intent on saving the ones she's comes to care for. There aren't enough words to describe Waren, our Aaron has a new face, his flawless emotions displayed out so clearly and those scars, the tattoo he wears.

The author leaves me feeling that every soul can be beautiful and that anyone can change.

Book Review: Ignite Me

Intensely overwhelming. Satisfyingly indulged. And waiting along with Juliette for the next war.

She's fierce and she's unstoppable. Her mind is a force to be reckoned with. And her body? A weapon so damaging it makes you weak in the knee.

Aaron Warner, his hard exterior is unbreakable but his love is dear and knows no boundaries.

I've come to love Warner and Kenji so much. Their personalities tops their character and for what it's worth, they deserve Juliette's love and friendship to the end.

Family isn't bound by blood nor is it just a a definition of a man, wife, and children, it's the friends we've come to make and love and cherish all the great moments shared. Family is all Juliette saw in her friends. Their care and affection gives her strength and hope. Aaron may have lost his mother, but he now has two more.

The war was fierce on both The Reestablisment's side and the rebel's side. Many civilians were lost for finding hope in the rebels and many friends were buried from the act of one cruel man who loved the game of torture for the living and the dead and he got his point across. But it didn't break Juliette but made her stronger and to stand up to the fear and the ones who feed it.

For a girl and guy so broken, they've found love and there's no one who can take that away. They deserved that and every bit of pleasure that comes with it.

Adam revealed his true self, or was it now that Juliette realized how much love she had for Adam. He could touch her, and now he can, without the pain, the lost, or the consequences.

The best thing and also a little cruel is how Kenji is the strongest. He's the glue, the support system that never failed. He was her bff and her biggest support. He made reading about him and his surrounding so much more funner and exciting. He brought smiles and giggles to my lips. And I can't help but want a novella on the strongest and toughest comedian with a big heart!

Although Anderson was the worst man alive, the scariest and most feared commander, he did help give life to 3 extraordinary guys and to that he's done ONE good thing in his life, ok, maybe two, he didn't kill them. But I've always wondered why his wives or so called lovers were both sick. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. If Aaron had a gift and so did his mother, did Anderson? Hmmm, a mystery indeed. Maybe a novella on Anderson's life?

Best of all, James has a cool new older brother and what's to say about the rest of the family members? How will he be when he finds out about Anderson? Another novella?

I enjoyed the series I truly do and there wasn't a better way to write this series but through Tahereh Mafi's mind. I'm blown away! Found a new author and there is forever gonna be another great author I'd love to read from.

Btw, LOVE love the book cover!

Book Review: Unite Me - Destroy Me

Pg 75- Is it weird, am I the only one. I'm sure I'm not. But somehow, even thought I was curious through Shatter Me, I'm now certain. As I am finicky, I'm probably not devoted either. Very gullible to words on the pages and the emotions I read that I start to fall for a broken man who seemed so put together in the first book. No, it's not "I love you at "hello,"' but rather up to chapter fifteen I realized he's not so perfect, the soldier, this leader. Cold on the outside, super soft and guarded in the inside. His full past will unfold but so far he's got my hands at an arms length and I'm longingly looking at him with eyes of longing, sympathy, or just loathing. Who knows..
Julliette's journal is so depressing. Even though it's fiction, it's still a feeling, feelings, thoughts, that someone out there in this world is actually feeling this way. Abuse can be a game changer neither it breaks you or makes you stronger. But Julliette holds on to her humanity, she consistently searches for a friend, a companion, someone to acknowledge her, to laugh and cry, to whisper and dream. Her journal is untold emotions bottled up on pages and words leaving no empty corners to even leak ink.

If there's a word to describe Warner, his hot and cold exterior? It's UNBREAKABLE! Although, his insides, his emotions and damaged mental conscious, it's INTENSE.

The one thing that brought Juliette and Warner together is her journal that Warner stole. So much in common, it's like looking into the your very own soul and peeking out to see it's someone's else's entirely. If you say Warner is lucky to be brought up alive and given his position right now, I'm saying there's much to be read into his life. To digest it, absorb the enormassity of it and understand it inside out. He wasn't loved but broken, he was cherished but expected of. Poor guy. I've come to love a broken fiction guy. Is he the male lead now of Shatter Me?

Unravel Me:

My heart broke for Adam. So many ways not just one. I tried grieving with him and being there for him. And Kenji, he's tried his best and nothing bad can be said about that. He is the stone, the rock that keeps people around him steady. For Juliette she barely found herself and being new to fighting, it was hard for Adam as well. And James, poor James, he's what that's keeping Adam sane. And if anything were to be said about his braveness, it's that it's saved his life and Adam's.

Juliette's journal:

Most of the passages were read and made appearances throughout the series. I did grow bored of the repetition but because Tahereh Mafi's writing is so intense for me, I keep reading to the end pulling myself together to move one. Bc Juliette was broken and shoved and stomped all over. Her body broken, her mind damaged but she held on tight to her humanity and that saved her life and brought her closer to her heart and soul.
