Spells

Spells (Wings, #2)Spells by Aprilynne Pike

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

At first the story line was slowly progressing but even through-out it got a bit interesting with the description of the different fairies, their living styles and each visit Tamani made to visit Laurel. The book dragged on a bit but here and there it got interesting. The whole time I keep thinking Laurel's mom was under the trolls' spell and was pushing Laurel away. David and Laurel progressed in their relationship and they got closer than ever before but Laurel's potion skill sounded like 2 months is NOT enough to be a full fledge Fall Fairy. I'm happy that Laurel chose David cause he sounds like a really great guy but Tamani sounds like a dream she couldn't quite grasps without sacrificing David and the human world. The end of the book was such a cliff-hanger! I wanna know what's up with Tamani and what's he planning to do, what Shar is planning. Is Chelsea gonna play a bigger role and who's the master mind behind Barnes. And did Barnes tell Chelsea all about Laurel and or where and how did Chelsea figure out about Laurel. And what is up with Klea? What is her background, her intention and does she work for or against the fairies and the super-natural world? Does she have a bigger plot and plans to hurt Laurel without David there?

One day and for a week or so, Laurel finds a zitlike bump on her back which grows and grows everyday until it became the size of a base ball then bursted into a blossom. The Dead-Tossed Waves

The Dead-Tossed Waves (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #2)The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To me, and compared to the books I've read before like The Mortal Instruments, theres not a whole lot of action action, but I do agree with some of the other readers. This book is written beautifully, romantic, scary and terrifying all at once, well not "all at once," but through-out it! Thinking back, I was like, ok, Mary has a daughter, and with who? The light house guy? And then it's like ok, she's adopted, that's alright. Ooo, and Gabrielle is in love and she meets Elias! O Elias, a mistery man, where is he from, why is he in the Forest and why does he already has this attachment to Gabry?!?!?! Then o my! Catcher is infected and now he's immune. And then there's Daniel. I thought maybe then Gabry will lean on him for the almost-lost of Catcher, and maybe fall in a similar step to Harry and Mary's situation, but nope. Throughout the books, it's like Gabry is strong and then her determination, her will collapses, like the shift in the wind. I find that Gabry's a little weaker than Mary, but then they are different characters. So back to the Forest and Gabry finds her mom with Harris and her history and roots with the village and Elias. Poor Gabry, like she said, she barely found her roots, and now she had to leave it behind and move on. Are they going to travel in a circle to reach the Dark City? Will Gabry and Catcher meet Mary, Elias, Harry and the dog again? Will Gabry find her twin Annah?

Even though my review sounds swift and more compact and less judgmental this time. I feel like Carrie Ryan wrote this sequel better than The Forest Of Hands And Teeth. Well you gotta have a beginning to have and middle and ending. This is a good book, a little slow at first because of Gabry's life and Mary continued life intro, I think it's great! Different and similar obstacle and the love triangle that always tuggs and tears at someone's heart!

The Forest of Hands and Teeth

The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1)The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Life as Mary is sooooo, not hard at all. But dealing with the Sisters maybe a little bit. Wether is waits for Travis or goes for Harry, at least both brothers love her. But Mary has a bigger dream, dreams of the ocean and the big city that her mother always tells her. But when she can have Travis, he's just not enough for her. Even when she marries Harry, that isn't even enough for her. Along the path, she's obsessed with the presence of Gabrielle and wants to know everything about her, where's she from, why she came to their village, etc. But going forth with her dreams and trying to pursue a future and demanding a history where her footprints needs to be remembered, she slowly and agonizingly looses members of her family and friends that she loves. Nothing stops her, no one can, not her best friend, not Travis or her brother Jed.

Eventually she finds the ocean, but she loses everyone to the Forest of Hands and Teeth. This is like the movie Resident Evil IV but in the forest instead of the city, no guns and super cool karate moves. There's no way I can see this as an interesting movie. So much is explained and expressed in emotions that it seems like there is little room for action. The most memorable scenes: the moment Harry holds her hand under water and asks for her, the scene where her mom is suffering until she is given up to the Unconsecrated to join her father, the scene where Sister Tabiltha takes her to the tunnels and demands her loyalty to God, the scenes where she is nursing Travis and the almost moments of touch, moments where she meets Gabrielle in the room adjacent to Travis's room and the window scene where she sees Gabrielle from the grounds of the Cathedral, the window writings left by Gabrielle, codes to navigate through the forest, where Mary is on the hill with Travis, where she is binded to Harry, the scene where Harry, her, Argos and Jacob sees Gabrielle kill Sister Tabitha, the travel scenes in the forest and the scenes at the next village and their short life there, scenes where Travis and Mary escapes the 3 story house to the house in the tree where the Harry and the others stayed, where Travis dies, Jed falls off the cliff, and finally the scene where Mary meets the guy on duty on the shores of the beach chopping off the heads of the Unconsecrated whom were washed to shore by the storm.

An easy read, but nerve wrecking to read through a stubborn character.

Linger

Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2)Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Four stars because to me it was a slow read throughout even though it had good twists and turns here and there.

Grace finally shifts due to Cole's brilliant theory over coffee and a ragged napkin. Either she survived or not was in Cole's hands and not the hospital's. Sam is still Sam, the human that once was a wolf is now mourning for his mundane girlfriend who is now the wolf after 10 years of no signs. Isabel is like this chain that kept all the puzzle pieces in place. She triggered the actions, she made Cole and Sam to work together to save Grace.

Finally, maybe now.. maybe the mundane who were once humans and are now shifting from wolf to human and back and forth can now have a cure to stay human if they wanted.

I hope the last book Forever will answer alot of unanswered questions and theories.

Night Star

Night Star (The Immortals, #5)Night Star by Alyson Noel

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So, no elixir, Jude is just one big-hearted loving guy that always unintentionally gets in Ever's way, the twins are happy with Ava, Haven is in the Shadowlands, and FINALLY Ever understands the love that Damen has for her for over 400 +/- years. Too bad with all the stuff Roman left behind that he didn't leave another bottle of the elixir that Ever and Damen needs. And why does Roman have the painting of Ever that Damen painted? Ok, what's up with the shadow part of Summerland and the old creepy lady, and the other two immortals with her?! How did the immortals get there and if there is yet another portal to Summerland that only lands there and not in the nice pasty of Summerland itself?! Can't wait for the last book!!!! The cover looks really pretty and nice!

Dark Flame

Dark Flame (The Immortals, #4)Dark Flame by Alyson Noel

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It's clear that Ever is now using her heart and opening her mind. Still, her character, the curiosity part BUGS ME! But that's what makes a good story, when a write puts you on the edge, makes you feel the suspense, the anger, the happiness, things that goes on with the characters and how "you" feel from your POV. I feel bad for Roman and I feel for Jude, but and Damen's gotta hang on and live for a bit with Ever's little teenage tantrum that she delivers on to herself! O well, next nook, I can't remember!

Shadowland

Shadowland (The Immortals, #3)Shadowland by Alyson Noel

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Have i mentioned IM SO ANNOYED WITH EVER! She's so sure, but ALWAYS making the wrong choices. I don't know how Damen can stand her. And what's up with Jude knowing Ever's name when no where mentioned did she say her name or Damen's for that fact. Or I just missed it totally! I can't believe she would not listen to anyone but the one person who she knows is NOT to be trusted and herself as well. I wouldn't want to see my friend die but how can you go against nature and be selfish to rob her of her mundane future and send her to the shawdow world! Haven had it coming, hanging with the wrong crowd more than once and always is rescued by Ever and Damen! Ever is so arrogant, thinking just because she'd immortal she's invicible or something, never thinking first before she reacts, never lookin at the bigger picture! She's like a know-it-all suddenly and assumes she knows everything, especially about the twin's true nature, their intentions and the tattoo she assumes that whatever it is, is bad. Damen who loves her most, warns her to stay away from the book which she ignores, not to see Roman which she ignores, asks Damen for advice or anything first before she acts to it which she ignores, not to take off the crystals around her neck and yet, she ignores it! Im starting to think no matter how attractive she is described to be, she is definitely dumb in the head! But I love the suspense, even though it puts me on edge and Ever irritates the hell out of me! I just hope Ever gets smarter and wiser, which she lacks. She's the one who needs classes and training on how to use her powers. But this girl here!, makes mistakes after mistakes, and never ever consulting with Damen or asks for advice. She trusts no-one bu herself and puts everyone else in danger cause she's so dumb-founded!

OMG, next book!!!!!!!!

Blue Moon

Blue Moon (The Immortals, #2)Blue Moon by Alyson Noel

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG CLIFFHANGER! anyways. I sometimes don't understand Ever at all. Not because I'm a reader but she knows in Summerland, things are manifested by You and people who go there are either dead or can actually travel there through a portal. It seems if her sister Riley was mentioned that maybe, MAYBE those twins are trustworthy. And even since she met Roman, she didn't trust him, felt uneasy around him, how can she trust whatever he says at all. It dawns on me that no matter how the author describes how weathy and good attractive she is, she can be quite the dumb one. Don't get me wrong, I like this book, this series so far, but I just gotta vent about characters that show a little too much that annoys me. This series or some of the characters or settings, whatever it is, reminds me of the HUSH HUSH series. Ok, I gotta know what happens next and if Ever gets smarter or just a clueless as ever!

Evermore

Evermore (The Immortals, #1)Evermore by Alyson Noel

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you ever read Fallen & Torment by Lauren Kate and Charlie St Cloud by Ben Sherwood, this is great mix! It's a cross between both and you wouldn't imagine the similarities and the differences. I'm not comparing really, I'm just giving you an idea of what to expect of this 1st book. It's great! Different villains, different characters of course! Even though Ever isnt a simple mundane, but an immortal one,she is yet to learn her great abilities that Damen is trying to teach her. Being there are many books on this series, I hope it gets more exciting but yet I'm also pessimistic that something bad will happen. Don't all books give you the suspense, the cliff- hanger in the end and then either gives you a typical ending or an unexpected/twisted good ending.. Which in turns to me makes the series EPIC-ally awesome! Got my toes crossed!

Though I really gotta mention, I love Alyson Noel's writing. SO easy to read, and NOT confusing at all! A very good wring style I might add!

And it's awesomely cool to know his little sister Riley has her own spin-off series too! I definitely can't waits and btw, did I mention I got all the books but the two last books :)

Shiver

Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1)Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I think the story is cute. But yet I wondered the whole time if she wanted to be with him and it was impossible for him at the moment to be huma, why can't she get bit again and turn into a wolf to be with Sam? It's a long distance love that yet occurred in her very backyard where her backyard laced itself into the woods. At least Grace was not a stubborn annoying main character. I've read so many good books that I main girl character ALWAYS got on my nerves. It was an easy read, but a bit slow for what I'm use to in other books. It's mainly a love story like Matched, but between Sam the wolf and Grace the human that never changed. I wished Isabel's brother didn't die but became Olive's wolf partner. But this is a series after all and things have to happen to characters so the show can still go on.

CIty of Fallen Angels

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4)City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I feel sorry for Simon, all he wanted to be is up front with his mother but yet she rejects him. Why doesnt Clary's mom like Jace? Why is Jace having all these weird dreams of Clary? I wonder how Alex and Magnus is.

OMG, CLIFF-HANGER!!!!!!!!!

Anyways.. As I still stand to say.. The book started out slow. Kind of hard to expect what might happen have the 1st chapter already released to the public, and the kinda-give-away by the synopsis. But who knew The Mark of Cain could play such an important role. OMG, Sabastian is baaaaaack!

Though there weren't real action to the end of the book, this is what I hope...

Jordan and Maia ends up together.

Simon and Isabell dates again and she plays a more serious role in his life.

Magnus and Alec is gonna have such a cute love story but Camille might be a threat.

O, and how much I prefer Jace and Clary to be together after all their hardships, I AM SO ANNOYED WITH CLARY's STUBBORN DECISIONS.

I don't support, "act first, think later," but that is actually what she personally it and that's why teenagers annoy me. Careless and destructive to the things they touch without the care of others till something happens.

"sigh," I can't wait til next yr to continue this book!

But I am looking forward to the end of the yr for CLOCKWORK PRINCE to release!

Matched

Matched (Matched, #1)Matched by Ally Condie

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If I lived in such a world, I don't think I can obey anyone, let alone the government. If it means the safetly of my family, I will then have to sacrafice my love and my life for the life of the ones i love. So, to admit, i did find the story a bit slow, but a page turner. I found it very controlling as the Hunger Games but at least their belly was always full. If I was matched to the perfect guy, who could complain. But it is 2011 after all. We all have had our crushes, teen love and thinking we found "The One!" A future where technology doesn't control their lives is impossible knowing our technology today is booming. A future where we have the perfect job, the perfect match, the perfect family and the perfect love. OMG, perfect love? IDK, kinda skeptical but still, I wanna know who i would be matched with. It is a bit of a mystery and a turn of events. I feel sorry for Xander because Cassia isn't the one who can return the same love that he can give. Ky deserves so much and for such a strong willed girl, Cassia is bettered matched to Ky. I only hope Xander can still find true love, or can he be matched again? I can't wait till the next book. I wanna know where Ally Condie is gonna take the next jouney to. Who is Cassia going to meet? Will she ever find Ky again and if they can really be together after all? Is Xander and her family still going to help her find Ky.? Will her little brother grow up, realize the turn of events in their lives and leave blame to his sister's forbidden love and his parent's will to go along with it to make his sister happy? Will we hear from Xander and his heart again? x(0_o)x got my fingers crossed for CROSSED!

Halo

Halo (Halo, #1)Halo by Alexandra Adornetto

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I definitely got a change out of this book. Theres angel alright, but it's a angel girl falling for a mundane boy. Usually i read the opposite. How cute! The book for started out a little slow. There's many emotions and descriptions that it took a while to get into the story. So 3 angels really didn't fall from the sky but on a mission from God to help save one part of the town at a time. To me I'm not highly religious or religious at all but this book kind of felt like it. With the description of the angel's wing being light as paper but as large as their body to carry them sounds incredibly awesome! I want a set! Xavier turns out to be such a devoted, not modern guy who definitely loves Beth for just who she is. Smetimes you read other books where lust can play a factor, but for her, wanting to explore it was, idk, not an issuer they think mattered. Jake was that bad handsome guy even angels fell for as well. He didn't sound so bad, but he seems to have a determined mind to have what he wanted witch made him a devil's angel. So.. from what I've read before, to conclude, Jake is a fallen angel and Beth and her siblings are archangels who protect and watch over the humans? I think so. Sometimes I get lost into the story that minor details like that slips me. Not too much going on, just the experience of an angel learning to be human and falling in love with a mundane who was sure worth all her troubles. God's love may be strong, but an angel's love seems more appealing! I sometimes hated being human but if an angel fell for me! I wouldn't complain!

Ok, how come Jake is so poetic? Does that signify anything?

Towards the beginning the book, page 68-69, when Beth went to sleep, she thought she heard Xavier kiss her and say goodnight... is there more to Xavier Woods? Is he really just an ordinary human and the author thinks to put that in the book to play with my mind?

Crescendo

Crescendo (Hush, Hush, #2)Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm with Patch. His devotion, his nature, his love.. I just don't get why if being Marcie's guardian angel requires him to kiss and hang out with her right? Just guard her from a distance since he's super fast anyways. The whole time when Nora was in danger, I kept on yelling at her to tell the archangel that she wanted Patch to be her guardian angel again, but her nature is stubburn and to me annoying! Scott is suppose to be a hunk but still kinda week for a Nephilim. It's so twisted to find out that Nixon was the bad guy. No wonder he kept on popping up with Vee here and there and within the story. But was his intensions was to be Patch and kill Nora's dad so she could blame Patch the whole time? Nora has so much inner conflicting mindsets! She wouldn't tell Patch how she felt, weather it was eating at her. She should of trusted him and try to explain her reasoning. But she held all her feelings inside and kept assuming Patch was the bad guy. Though Patch has a history of violence and a secretive life-style, he could of understood and just let her know emotionally that he was in love with her instead of leaving her vulnerable to her own self-destructive mind. in love how it ended with them back together and he telling her he loved her. In my mind, as being Told through Nora's pov, I pretended he was telling me her loved me, after all the harsh words and careless interrogations. I can't wait till Silence comes out in October. I will definitely have to re-read Hush Hush and Crescendo again to relive the story and then torture my heart out reasons Silence knowing there's no more Patch unless I just reread and relive the story all over again!

Hush Hush

Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1)Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think Fallen Angel are just for only us humans to love, lust, and adore! I found Nora's curiosity is SO annoying but in the end, after what she goes through, she deserves a guardian Angel. The power of friendship seems to over power the power of family. I don't understand and maybe that's just it, for me to figure it out... But how in the world did Jules die again? There are some wordings that I totally got lost even after reading it over a few times.. But over all, I like the story and how Nora makes Patch sound SO IRRESISTABLE!

Mockingjay

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Humans are like ants. Snow is curious child who aims the magnifier above the ants where a hot sun torture the ants and burn them to death. Coin is that grandma who has good intentions as whole for the people but is undyingly evil to seek out her motives. I don't bizzare right? Gale is that handsome bff that you can nver fall in love with because your relationship wasnt based off of feelings but companionship and trust. Katniss is the self-inflicked girl who has the teen drama mindset but a heart of a lion. Hard for her to trust anyone but the boy with the bread that she ends up loving who has always loved her and her bff gale.

I like the book. The kids grow up but matures into soldiers and a strong heart that's been mended by loves ones, torn aparrt by the carelessness of others. How in the world does the author make up such deadly pods in teh capital and create suck a weak but powerful capital? People of the districts dies off like unwanted pests but a handful of people will risk their lives to save their loved ones.

I stray of the books at moments but it pulls me back cause every turn of the page has something going on and or Katniss is at war with herself again.

I'm very happy to know Katniss and Peeta ends up together and childres of their own. What about Gale? *sigh* who knows, a short sequel somewhere?

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WOW, I couldn't put the book down. Peeta and Katniss! They both did it, they survived the awful game plagued by the Capitol! I jus had to keep reading till I read every last word, every last page is turned.. But now the anti caption of what will happen between Peeta and Katniss. Love? Anger? Regret? Foul play? What about Gale! So many unanswered questions and two more books to spill over! I loved how everything was planned, willingly known or not. Through Katniss's mind, her conflicting thoughts and feelings for Peeta sends me feeling sorry for him, but maybe hope for her and their new relationship that is now more than just friendship or not? "sigh"

It seems as though Suzanne Collins has lived through the Hunger Games and is now telling the story, as if she was Katniss herself! Brilliant! Totally a different kind of love/romance. Nothing that tells you too much. No indication that anything is inappropriate. Everything that happened and events that occured just built up to the next thing that happened. There's family, there's the friendship that isn't quite a crush or love yet. Then there's a war, futuristic things like a button that sends a meal within a minute? Come one! Then there's mutation in animals, the played out/ planned out nature events, the unseen camera which captures everything that happened.. Friendship, singing birds, revenge and love/ or is it feelings/ spurs of the moment actions that can mean something else. Smart! Eveything is so planned and organized that you can't really pinpoint a type of book this is. Yes, there's action, there's romance/love I think, nothing too close to paranormalcy, friendship and family. I love it!

I don't think my description gives justice to such a brilliant book, but I KNOW reading it is a whole different realm. Being the reader in a character's mind is a whole thing plays out nicely!
